Pilates is a method of exercise that consists of low-impact flexibility and muscular strength along with endurance movements to overall improve posture. Pilates emphasizes the use of 5 key principles and building strength upon those principles. Pilates is named for its creator, Joseph Pilates, who developed the exercises in the early 1900s. All our instructors are trained in STOTT Pilates and are physiotherapists.
It is very important to do the exercises properly and have a good foundation. We encourage individuals to do a 30 minute one on one with the instructor to learn the principles so they can get the most our of the class.
Stages of PILATES:
For injured population. Works on posture, spinal strength and alignment. This is the start of your rehab and pilates introduction
Classes taught by a physiotherapist - max 8 per class
PILATES- Mat Class:
The next step in your workout needs. Progressing from Rehab Pilates and getting the next challenge for core and body stabilization.
Each class will work to balance all muscle groups' strength and flexibility, with an emphasis on challenging the core muscles with each movement. Pilates mat is a challenging yet safe method to sculpt your body and to feel increased agility in your every day movements.
Some Classes we will progress with different small equipment to make the class more challenging!
Working on posture, breathing, core and flexibility during all stages of pregnancy.
One on one with a physiotherapist and then 3-4 people scheduled with a physio

Post natal pilates is essential in restoring the intrinsic core!
Most women are able to return to exercise four to six weeks after a regular birth or when they get clearance from their physician. Exercises can be added to focus on reactivating and stabilizing the pelvic floor, transversus abdominis and obliques as well as developing lumbo-pelvic stability.

Total Barre Class
Barre workouts have the potential to be both vigorous and enjoyable. Bring the energy of music to a challenging workout brought to you by the Merrithew™ team. Built on the Total Barre™ class template, this workout introduces elements of athletic conditioning and performance training to individual exercise segments of the full-body workout. Powerful music selections propel the intensity-driven routines to amplify the results and energize every participant.
ALL Level Flow YOGA
This is an All Levels Flow style Yoga Class. Beginning with breath awareness exercises, a few moments of quiet reflection then gently opening the body. Focusing on postures that will gently awaken the body promoting strength, flexibility and awareness throughout.
Vinyasa Flow Yoga
Vinyasa Flow. A creative and challenging class consisting of flowing movement, paired to the breath. Expect full body strengthening and lengthening, with an emphasis on alignment.
This practice is designed to calm the central nervous system and help release deeply held tension from the body and mind, encouraging a deeper state of
relaxation. The body is supported throughout the practice in speciﬁc postures using props such as blocks, bolsters and blankets allowing it to open slowly and
naturally with no effort. Everyone is welcome to this all levels class.
Yin Yoga has the same goals and objectives as any other school of yoga; however, it directs the stimulation normally created in the asana portion of the practice deeper than the superficial or muscular tissues. Yin Yoga targets the connective tissues, such as the ligaments, bones, and even the joints of the body that normally are not exercised very much in a more active style of asana practice.
A well-taught Kundalini Yoga class leaves you feeling like you’ve gone to therapy, had an awesome workout in the gym, made it to your yoga mat and enjoyed a fun singing session with friends. The purpose of Kundalini Yoga is to provide a modality by which people can achieve their maximum creative potential, free themselves from Karma and realize their life purpose.
Pre Natal YOGA
Through yoga and breathing techniques, our prenatal classes offer a safe, supportive, and inclusive environment to help prepare the mind and the body for birth and motherhood. To accommodate the changing needs of the expectant mother modifications will be offered.
Baby and Me Yoga
Designed for Mothers and babies from birth to beginner crawlers, this class is an essential rehabilitation class to restore and promote hormonal balance, strength, relaxation, and body reclamation. Enjoy connecting with your baby and body while improving your posture and building confidence.
FUNCTIONAL MOVEMENT CLASSES
Functional Circuit Training
Start off with a mobility workout to warm up
Workout in a circuit fashion using functional movements, body weight, ropes, boxes, sleds, rings, kettlebells to name a few.
Mobility cool down
You will be working hard but improving your movement at the same time! It's a win win!
Seniors Functional Training Class
This class is an amazing class for senior and the aging population. The class is based on functional strengthening and mobilization exercises to keep the body agile, strong and retain balance. Classes are run by kinesiologists who have a great background with working with special populations. The goal is to maintain fitness and mobility as we age. Call Clinic to ask about time and prices.
Knee Hab and Hip Hab
These classes are designed for pre and post opt hip and knee clients clients that are either fresh post opt, awaiting surgery or just want to maintain and strengthen their joints! We are focusing on functional mobility and strengthening exercises to help promote full range, strength and function. The class is designed a circuit fashion with one station being hands on and laser therapy for our acute post op patients. Call Clinic to ask about time and prices.
Cardiac Rehab Class
We are excited to introduce our first CR program! This program is inclusive for all cardiac patients with the goal to improve exercise tolerance and strengthen the heart and vessels. The program is designed in a circuit fashion with cardiovascular exercise and functional exercises. An initial consultation with the physiotherapist is essential to start the program as well as a doctors referral. Call the clinic for more information on the program and to book an appointment!
